Stampin’ Up! Hello Friend, Thinking of You

I used the Stampin’ Up! Hello Friend stamp set for the card I’m sharing with you today.

The inspiration for the card layout is from Fab Friday #119

And, I am playing along with the color challenge at As You See It Challenge #156

As You See It #156

I have to admit, these are not colors I would have put together on my own, well, maybe the Lemon Lime Twist and the Elegant Eggplant.  But, the Real Red added to the mix was a challenge!  I do love the Lemon Lime Twist, as most of you who follow my blog have seen!

I started by dry embossing a Real Red panel with the Sparkle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, then adhered it to the Elegant Eggplant card base.  Next, I stamped the wreath image from the Stampin’ Up! Hello Friend stamp set in Lemon Lime Twist onto Whisper White.  The small flower images from the set were stamped in Real Red and fussy cut with my Paper Snips, then adhered to the wreath. A panel of Lemon Lime Twist was adhered to the art panel and then half of a Silver Foil Doily was adhered so that just a portion peeked out.  This panel was then adhered to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Originally, I had only intended on stamping the wreath, but decided it looked a little bare, so I stamped the sentiment and cut it with a small Layering Circle die.  It was framed with a little larger Stitched Shapes circle in Elegant Eggplant, then popped on with dimensionals.  I punched the end of a panel of Lemon Lime Twist with my Banner Triple Punch, then adhered it to the art panel with glue.  Hello, from the Hello Friend stamp set was stamped with Elegant Eggplant ink and then fussy cut around the letters with my Paper Snips.  It was added to the banner with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I had stamped several Real Red Flowers that I did not use on the front of the card, so I used them for the inside.  Before gluing them  down, I stamped a couple of leaves from the set in Lemon Lime Twist.  The sentiment is another from the Hello Friend set and was stamped in Elegant Eggplant.

A complete list of stamping supplies as well as card stock cuts are at the end of my post.

I agree with you completely that the Real Red was the curve ball in the colour mix but what you’ve done with the colours – fabulous! They look like a marriage made in heaven. The pop of the red flowers against the wreath – wonderful – so warm and cheerful. Love the circular sentiment in the middle. Thanks so much for joining us at As You See It Challenge this week.

And, thank you for your kind comment! 🙂

I love how you’ve made these colours work so naturally, Jari! The wreath and the flowers are so lovely while the Eggplant and Red make a background statement without being overpowering! And the Lemon Lime as you’ve used it, other than the wreath, gives the perfect amount of pop! Thanks for sharing your creation with us at As You See It Challenge!

Very nice! I wouldn’t have used these colors together either but you’ve managed them very well! I like the bold greeting and how you did the circle sentiment inside the wreath! Thanks for sharing at Fab Friday!
