Stampin’ Up! Time of Year for The Paper Players

I combined the Time of Year and Love & Affection stamp sets to create a card for The Paper Players Clean and Simple Challenge this week.

Time of Year Love & Affection

The challenge this week is to create a CAS card with the sentiment as the focal point.  I hope you’ll check out all of the other designs at PP#332.

Paper Players #332

I started with a panel of Cucumber Crush as my base.  When I paired it with Night of Navy, I felt like I needed to do something to the Night of Navy besides just creating a frame with Copper Foil paper.  So, I pulled out my Floral Affections Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and dry embossed the Night of Navy layer.  The folder is smaller than most Embossing Folders so I was able to move the panel and emboss different sections .  I actually ran it through 4 different times, embossing the corners and some of the middle.

Time of Year and Love & Affection

Thinking of You is the main sentiment in the Time of Year Host stamp set, and I stamped it in Versa Mark ink on a panel of Crumb Cake card stock.  Then, I sprinkled it with Copper Emboss Powder and heat embossed it. Once dry, it was cut out with the largest square from the Layering Squares Framelits Dies.   The frame is the largest scalloped square from that same set of framelits.   I chose the small flower image from Love & Affection and stamped a panel of Watermelon Wonder with more Versa Mark ink, then Copper Emboss Powder.  The flower was then fussy cut with my Paper Snips.

Time of Year and Love & Affection

For the center strip, I chose the Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP and used more Copper Foil for a frame for it.  Once all the parts were completed, I began adhering them from the bottom up.  The Night of Navy panel was adhered to the Foil with glue, then adhered to the card base with Dimensionals. The center strip was adhered with glue, then the sentiment panel popped on with Dimensionals. I added the flower last with a small Dimensional.

The inside of my card is simple, too

Time of Year and Love & Affection

I used the sentiment from Love & Affection and stamped it in Versa Mark, then heat embossed it with Copper Emboss Powder.

A complete list of stamping supplies and card stock cuts in inches for my Time of Year and Love & Affection card will be at the end of my post.

Stampin’ Up! Time of Year Step It Up!

This month I was challenged to create a CAS (clean and simple) card and then, using the same basic card, Step It Up! by adding something extra.  So, today, I am sharing two cards I created.  One CAS, and one Step It Up!, using the Host Exclusive stamp set, Time of Year. You know, is a great stamp set to use all year round.

Here is my CAS card:

step it up

This is a one layer card-I know, not something I do very much, but I’m happy with its simplicity!  I stamped directly onto my Whisper White card base with Real Red.  I used my Emerald Envy and Real Red Stampin’ Write Markers for the holly image, coloring them and then huffing onto the stamp a few times before stamping onto the card.  Then, I  added some Candy Cane Lane Washi Tape to the bottom and tied a strand of the Candy Cane Lane red and white Baker’s Twine to the top.

Ok, now for the Step It Up! version:

I added a layer of Emerald Envy that was dry embossed with the Softly Falling TIEF.  Before attaching it to the Whisper White base, I wrapped the red and white baker’s twine around three times.  Then, the sentiment was stamped onto a panel of Whisper White and die cut with one of the Layering Scalloped Squares Framelits.  A larger Real Red Layering Square was cut for a frame.  I stamped Christmas in Real Red onto a panel of Whisper White and used the Bunch of Banners Framelits to die cut it out..  Both sentiment panels were popped onto the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Finally, I added the holly Christmas Trinket Ornament with more of the Candy Cane Lane baker’s twine and a glue dot.

Stampin’ Up! Time of Year Host Set Sneak Peek

My share for today is a quick and easy card using Time of Year, a host stamp set from the new 2016-2017 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.

Time of Year

While browsing through my new catalog, I noticed this card (a very similar one) on page 200, with Quick + Easy written in the corner.  So, I decided to make it my own by changing the colors a little, adding a couple of more layers and fussy cutting the banner and popping it onto the front with dimensionals.  (Bunch of Banners Framelits Dies are available on June 1st, so no more fussy cutting these banners)

The one pictured in the catalog is all one layer, which makes it very quick and easy, but even though mine has a couple of layers, it should be classified as very quick and easy, too.  It’s nice to have a card started and finished in a matter of minutes, right?

Time of Year

Time of Year is a great stamp set to use many times of the year, hence the name!  The other banner sentiments say Christmas, Birthday and Time of Year and the words At, This and On Your. Plus, you have the flowers as above, an acorn and leaf and holly berries and leaves to add as accents.  This set is photopolymer, too.

Time of Year

Remember, Time of Year is a host set, and can only be purchased when you host a Stampin’ Up! party, or you may use your Stampin’ Rewards earned from hosting a party to buy host only items.

Steps to make this card:

  1. Stamp the sentiment in Wild Wasabi onto a panel of Whisper White card stock
  2. Stamp the flowers in Flirty Flamingo (available June 1st) on either side of the sentiment
  3. Stamp the banner in Peekaboo Peach (available June 1st) onto a panel of Whisper White Thick card stock
  4. Punch out the banner with Bunch of Banners Framelits (available June 1st) and adhere it to the front with dimensionals
  5. Snail the art piece to a panel of Wild Wasabi
  6. Pop the framed art piece onto the Whisper White Thick card stock base
  7. Add some Pearls Basic jewels to the front

Card stock cuts are at the end of the post.
