Pop of Paradise Ugly Christmas Sweater!

I’m sharing an ugly Christmas sweater I created for a fun challenge created for all of us in  Amy’s Inkin’ Krew,  by our team leader, Amy Koenders.   When she issued the challenge, I got to thinking about how much I loved flamingos, and how easy it would be to make a gaudy Christmas sweater with one.  So here goes:

ugly Christmas sweater

Do you have a favorite “ugly” Christmas sweater?  I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?  I found the measurements for the creation of the sweater part of my card HERE in case you want to make your own ugly Christmas sweater card!

First, I measured and cut my Whisper White Thick card stock base, then did the same with my Pop of Pink card stock sweater base.  I adhered them with liquid glue, then cut the neckline and waistline Pop of Pink polka dot strips.

ugly Christmas sweater

I pulled out some Melon Mambo 1/8″ Stitched Ribbon and glued it to the center front. Then, I cut a small piece of a Delicate White Doily and attached it to the center front.  Next, the neckline strips were adhered with glue.  I added the waistline “binding” with glue and then began the decorating.

I stamped the flamingo in Melon Mambo onto whisper White card stock and fussy cut with my paper snips.  My Christmas trees, bow and snow flakes were die cut with the Christmas Stockings Thinlets Dies from Silver Foil. The faux necklace, also Silver Foil, was die cut using a die from the Cheerful Tags Thinlets Dies.  I used 3 Metal Rimmed Pearls for the buttons and attached them to the snowflakes.  Pearl Basic Jewels were added to the necklace.   Rhinestone Basic Jewels were added to the trees, the bow, the heart, and randomly on the rest of the card.

I adhered a panel of Pop of Pink DSP to the inside card base.  I used the Happy Christmas stamp from Oh What Fun for the inside sentiment.  It is stamped in Melon Mambo ink.

Hope you enjoyed my ugly Christmas sweater for today!  You may want to check out some of the other team member’s cards today.  I think they are sharing too.

Pop of Paradise Hello for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

I’m using Pop of Paradise from Stampin’ Up! for my share today for the Happy Stampers.  Take a look:

Pop of Paradise Hello

We are working with this sketch, and as you can see, I added a few elements to mine!

Happy Stampers Blog Hop June 23, 2016

Pop of Paradise Hello

I cut my panels of Pop of Pink DSP first and adhered them to a panel of Basic Black.  The Gold Foil hello is die cut 3 times from Hello You Thinlets and glued together with my Fine Tip Glue pen.  A tip when using this glue is to dab your dots of glue and wait a minute or so before adding the next layer.  This really helps the glue not to spread out as it is already a little dry.  A length of 1/8″ Melon Mambo Stitched Ribbon was attached at the meeting point of my two layers of DSP with glue and a small bow added with a glue dot.

Pop Of Pink Hello

The flamingo stamp, from Pop of Paradise, is stamped in Melon Mambo and fussy cut.  I decided the flamingo looked too lonely on the bottom panel, so I stamped one leaf in Melon Mambo and another in Versa Mark and sprinkled it with Gold Embossing powder and heat embossed it.  They were both then fussy cut.  The flamingo and gold leaf are popped on with dimensionals, the pink leaf with multipurpose liquid glue.

Pop Of Paradise Hello

The inside panel of Whisper White is stamped with the sentiment from Pop of Paradise in Melon Mambo.  I added a strip of Pop of Pink DSP to the bottom that mirrors the front of my card.  And that completes my Pop of Paradise Hello card for today!

You will find a list of products and card stock cuts for my Pop of Paradise Hello card at the end of my post.

Stampin’ Up! Pop of Paradise

My share for today is from the new stamp set, Pop of Paradise from Stampin’ Up!   I have to say that flamingos are a favorite of mine and this stamp set delivers!

Pop of Paradise

I started by stamping the flamingo twice on the Whisper White panel in Melon Mambo. Then I stamped another one onto a scrap of Whisper White and cut out the head and body and set it aside.  For the flamingo with black legs, I taped over the stamp and left the legs to be inked in Tuxedo Black Memento.  I took off the tape, then stamped the legs onto the panel with the other flamingos and popped the body over it with dimensionals.

Pop of Paradise

I stamped the Hello stamp with Melon Mambo and fussy cut it because I needed it smaller than the punch that was near that size.  Then, I used the small hole punch to punch a hole in the top and bottom so that I could thread some Melon Mambo/Black baker’s twine (retiring) through it.  I used the Itty Bitty accents flower punch (retiring) for “hats” and the bow tie die from the Bear Hugs Framelits for the bow tie.

Pop of Paradise

The inside is stamped with the heart image from the Pop of Paradise set in Melon Mambo ink onto a panel of Whisper White that is adhered to a panel of Everyday Chic paper (retiring).

Stampin’ Up! Pop of Paradise Sneak Peak!

I have a sneak peek today of Pop of Paradise (available June 1st), from Stampin’ Up! I am in love with this flamingo!  And, all of the new In-Colors which are also available to order on June 1st.

Pop of Paradise

Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators get to a select group of stamps, paper and accessories a little earlier than the general public, so you have probably already seen a few sneak peaks out there on social media.  Just one of the great perks of becoming a Demonstrator!

I used 3 of the new In-colors today with the Pop of Paradise stamp set:  Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy and Flirty Flamingo.

I am also playing along with the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches FMS#236. ( I took a little license with the sketch!)  I hope you will head over there and check out all of the other fabulous entries and even play along.

FMS Final 236-001

Pop of Paradise

I started by stamping the leaf images onto a panel of Whisper White card stock. Then, I stamped the pineapple image with Versa Mark ink and sprinkled Gold Embossing Powder on and heat embossed it.  Next, I stamped the flamingo and the banner images onto Whisper White Thick card stock and fussy cut them with my paper snips.

I used a panel of Color Me Irresistible (retired) paper and sponged on Emerald Envy ink, then wiped off the excess to create some background DSP that coordinated with the art piece and snailed them together.  That layer is also snailed to a little larger panel of Whisper White. The card base is Dapper Denim (available June 1st).  Dimensionals were added to the banner, flamingo and the art piece layer before popping them onto the front.  Gold sequins were also added with glue dots.

Pop of Paradise

I used the flamingo and one of the leaves once again from Pop of Paradise, on the inside of the card.  The sentiment is from the Suite Sayings stamp set.

Pop of Paradise

So, what do you think, will Pop of Paradise be on your wish list?  It really is a fun stamp set!
