I’m sharing some Dragonflies on my card today for our Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop. And here is our sketch:
Our sketch this week gives us a starting point and guidelines for each sketch, so I really try to work with it as much as possible. If you notice in the sketch it has 2 panels on the front, with one looking like a different color than the other. I chose to use the same paper, but cut it so that it looks a little like it is two different panels of DSP. I used one of the sheets from Falling In Love DSP and cut it so that the part of the paper with less design is on the top portion and the part with more design was on the bottom! They were adhered to a panel of Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper. Then, a length of Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon was adhered where the two panels met.
I recently saw a card on Pinterest with dragonflies created using Vellum card stock, so I decided to try it, too. You can see the card HERE. The stamper used Watercolor Pencils, and since I knew they were not orderable from Stampin’ Up! right now, I decided to try using my Blender pen and inks on the Vellum. I cut a rectangle of the Vellum and began coloring with Blushing Bride, Sahara Sand and Sweet Sugarplum inks, blending the colors as I went. Once it was dry, I just die cut it with the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlets Die.
My sentiment, from Dragonfly Dreams, was stamped in Sahara Sand on Very Vanilla, and die cut with an oval Stitched Shapes Framelit Die. Then, I adhered the sentiment oval to a Blushing Bride scalloped oval and attached a Lace Doily to the back side with glue. The dragonflies were attached with glue dots just under the heads. I cut a length of Silver Metallic Thread and attached it to the back of the sentiment ovals with some Glue Dots, then popped that panel onto the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Falling In Love Embellishment added the finishing touch to the front.
I pulled out the Happy Mother’s Day sentiment from the Oh So Succulent stamp set and stamped it in Sahara Sand ink. Then, I added a strip of the DSP left over from the front for the bottom of the panel.
A complete list of supplies as well as card stock cuts for this project will be at the end of my post.
Now, for more of the hop. Time to head over to see what Kristi has created for us today.
