Christmas Gift Tags and Blog Candy Reminder

christmas Gift Tags

Are your presents all wrapped and under the tree?  If so , you are way ahead of me!!  I am sharing some Christmas Gift Tags for you today using several of the wonderful products from the 2016 Holiday Catalog, soon to be replaced by all of the wonderful new products from Stampin’ Up!  Before I share them, though, I want to remind you I am giving away some blog candy this weekend.  Check out my post from yesterday HERE that tells you all about it.

Here is a group shot of the Christmas Gift Tags.

Christmas Gift Tags

I didn’t just make them flat tags, though, they are folded, and I have stamped the To and From on the inside.

Christmas Gift Tags

For these tags, I used the Christmas Stockings Thinlits Dies.  I used the largest die to cut the base stocking in Whisper White Thick card stock.  I cut a 2 1/4″ x 5″ panel of Whisper White and scored it at 2 1/2″.  Then, I placed the large plain stocking die on my paper with the top edge of the die just above the top of the paper (where the fold was) and ran it through the Big Shot.  Next, I used Real Red, Cucumber Crush and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper to create  the cute cut outs. stocking tops and bows.  I used my 1/8″ Handheld Circle Punch to create a hole for the tie.

This next picture shows how I stamped the inside of all of the gift tags.

Here is a close up of the tag created with the Jar of Love, Jar of Cheer and the Everyday Jars Framelits Dies.

Christmas Gift Tags

For this gift tag, I used Kraft card stock.  I stamped the jar and the snowman image in Soft Suede ink. Then I inked the snow image from Jar of Cheer in Versa Mark ink, sprinkled it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  I colored in the scarf, hat and nose with Cucumber Crush, Real Red and Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Write Markers.  To cut out the tag, I lined up the jar framelit at the top of the fold in the paper.  I let it hang over the top edge just a little so that I would have another folded tag.  I used the lid stamp from Jar of Love and stamped it in Real Red onto Whisper White card stock and die cut it.  The holly and berries are from Hang Your Stocking.  I also used a little Wink of Stella to make the snow areas sparkle!

I wanted to try my hand at one more tag with a fold, so I stamped the gingerbread boy from Cookie Cutter Christmas in Crumb Cake ink onto Whisper White thick card stock.  That was too thick for my Cookie Cutter Punch, so I switched to regular Whisper White card stock.  I cut another panel about 2″ x 5″, folded it in half and stamped right at the top of the fold, then punched it out making sure I left some of the fold in tact.  Hopefully, that makes sense!

I punched a hole again and added some of the Candy Cane Lane Baker’s Twine (used in all of the tags) so that the tag can be attached to a gift.

Are you ready to try creating some folded Christmas Gift Tags?

Products used in creating my gift tags are listed at the end of the post.

Stampin’ Up! Lots of Joy and Oh, What Fun Gift Tags

I have been making quite a few Christmas cards lately, but remembered I needed to begin making gift tags for Christmas presents, so out came the Stampin’ Up!  Lots of Joy and Oh, What Fun stamp sets.  If I had been really smart, I would have ordered the Stampin” Up! Oh, What Fun Tag Project Kit!  I think that may be the coolest kit for making a large number of tags in a short amount of time. Hindsight is always better– at least where I am concerned!!  I did have fun, though, making these tags and little box to store them.

I started by cutting several strips of Whisper White and Cherry Cobbler card stock and punched the ends with my Scalloped Tag Topper punch. I used the Corner Rounder punch for the opposite ends.  Notice that no two tags are alike-not smart if you need to knock out quite a few in a hurry.  But, if you want to make this a nice little gift for someone, then go for variety!

I used lots of different papers from the Merry Moments Designer Series paper to add accents.  Some were cut with the Banner Triple punch and some Christmas Tree shapes were punched with the Tree punch.  I also used the smallest Deco Labels Collection Framelits, the smallest oval from the Ovals Collection Framelits, and my Bow Builder Punch.  Some of the tags have Cherry Cobbler Thick Baker’s Twine and  some have Old Olive Baker’s Twine for attaching the tag to your present.

Storage box for Gift Tags Card-iology by JariI thought the tags needed their own little gift box, in case I do decide to give this away :).  The box is really simple to make using a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock.  Before I began to assemble it, I put the tree die from my Square Pillow Box Thinlets Die set in the middle of the front panel and ran it through my Big Shot.  I finished it off with a length of Mossy Meadow 5/8″ Striped Cotton Ribbon and the sentiment from Lots of Joy.  I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to color the image so that I could have a green tree.

And here it is with the gift tags all snugly fitting inside:

Supply List

Card stock cuts in inches:

  • tags are 2 x 4
  • smaller ones 2 x 3
  • scraps of Whisper White for sentiments
  • scraps of DSP for trees, banners
  • scraps for stars and snowflakes punched from Silver Foil
  • 8-9″ lengths of Cherry Cobbler or Old Olive Baker’s Twine

To make the box:

  • Cut a piece of cardstock 5 1/2″ X 8 1/2″
  • Score on long side at 1 1/2″; 4″; 5 1/2″; and 8″
  • Score short side at 1 1/2″  (this is your bottom)
  • Use bone folder and fold each score line
  • If you want to add a cut out, determine your front panel (one of the 2 1/2″ panels) and punch out design
  • At each score line/fold on the bottom, cut up to the 1 1/2″ score line you made with a little v notch-just to the score line only. These are the bottom flaps of your box
  • Fold the box together to make sure everything lines up evenly before you add any adhesives
  • The 1/2″ flap needs to go inside your box-add adhesive to it and line it up with the side of the box
  • Make sure the last bottom flap is folded to the back of the box before you adhere it to the rest of the bottom.  It just looks nicer from the front!
  • Add a strip of ribbon (you could even use Washi Tape here) with Tear and Tape (sorry, I forgot to add that to the supply list)
  • Stamp a sentiment, punch or cut it our and adhere it with Dimensionals
