Stampin’ Up! Dragonflies for Happy Inkin’ Thursday

Happy Inkin' Thursday Blog Hop

I’m sharing some Dragonflies on my card today for our Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop.  And here is our sketch:

Happy Inkin' Thursday Blog Hop Sketch Challenge March 30

Our sketch this week gives us a starting point and guidelines for each sketch, so I really try to work with it as much as possible.  If you notice in the sketch it has 2 panels on the front, with one looking like a different color than the other.  I chose to use the same paper, but cut it so that it looks a little like it is two different panels of DSP.  I used one of the sheets from Falling In Love DSP and cut it so that the part of the paper with less design is on the top portion and the part with more design was on the bottom!  They were adhered to a panel of Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper.  Then, a length of Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon was adhered where the two panels met.

I recently saw a card on Pinterest with dragonflies created using Vellum card stock, so I decided to try it, too.  You can see the card HERE.  The stamper used Watercolor Pencils, and since I knew they were not orderable from Stampin’ Up! right now, I decided to try using my Blender pen and inks on the Vellum.  I cut a rectangle of the Vellum and began coloring with Blushing Bride, Sahara Sand and Sweet Sugarplum inks, blending the colors as I went. Once it was dry, I just die cut it with the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlets Die.

My sentiment, from Dragonfly Dreams, was stamped in Sahara Sand on Very Vanilla, and die cut with an oval Stitched Shapes Framelit Die. Then, I adhered the sentiment oval to a Blushing Bride scalloped oval and attached a Lace Doily to the back side with glue. The dragonflies were attached with glue dots just under the heads.  I cut a length of Silver Metallic Thread and attached it to the back of the sentiment ovals with some Glue Dots, then popped that panel onto the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The Falling In Love Embellishment added the finishing touch to the front.

I pulled out the Happy Mother’s Day sentiment from the Oh So Succulent stamp set and stamped it in Sahara Sand ink. Then, I added a strip of the DSP left over from the front for the bottom of the panel.

Dragonfly Dreams & Butterfly Basics for PCC#231

I used the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle, Butterfly Basics and Gorgeous Grunge from Stampin’ Up! to create my card for today.

Dragonfly

I’m playing along with the sketch at Paper Craft Crew #231.

PCC#231

I started by stamping the Whisper White art panel with the splatter image from Gorgeous Grunge in Crumb Cake ink. Because I did not want the Crumb cake too dark, I stamped it off onto a scrap paper a couple of times.  Then, I did the same thing with the honeycomb image from Butterfly Basics.  The fern image from Butterfly Basics was stamped in Wild Wasabi 3 times without re-inking.

Dragonfly  The body of the Dragonfly, from Dragonfly Dreams, was stamped in Basic Black, then the wings in Wisteria Wonder.  I die cut it with the matching die from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlets Dies.  I added some Dimensionals to the back and looped a length of Gold Metallic Thread around a few times before popping it onto the art panel.  The banner sentiment is from Dragonfly Dreams and stamped in Basic Black, then die cut with the banner from the Gift Card Envelope & Thinlets Dies.  My little flower was created with the long die from the Flourish Thinlets.  I cut the circles apart and glued two parts together to make a flower.  The center is one of the smaller White Perfect Accents.

Dragonfly

The inside sentiment is from Butterfly Basics and stamped in Wisteria Wonder.  Three more fern fronds were stamped in Wild Wasabi and a little strip of the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack card stock was repeated to finish it off!

Card stock cuts and products used in creating this card will be at the end of the post.

Dragonfly

The inspiration for my sketch is from Can You Case It CYCI #143

CYCI #143

First, I stamped the dragonfly image in Mint Macaron onto a panel of Mint Macaron card stock.  Then, I stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Memento Black ink in the right corner.  I framed this panel with a little larger panel of Sweet Sugarplum card stock and went to work on the feature dragonfly.

Dragonfly

For the single dragonfly, I used some Whisper White Thick card stock, and stamped the dragonfly body in Tuxedo Memento Black ink.  For the wings, I used Mint Macaron and Sweet Sugarplum inks, rocking the stamp around both ink pads and then stamping down over the part already stamped.  The corresponding die from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlets was then used to cut it out.

Dragonfly

The Whisper White panel was stamped with the dotted images from Dragonfly Dreams in Mint Macaron and Sweet Sugarplum inks.   Then, I used a square die from the Stitched Shapes Framelits to cut it out.

Dragonfly dreams

The inside sentiment is stamped in Tuxedo Memento Black onto a panel of Whisper White.  I stamped some more of the Sweet Sugarplum and Mint Macaron dots along the bottom edge using the stamping off technique.

A complete list of supplies and card stock cuts are at the end of the post.
