Autism Matters Blog Hop

Welcome to our Autism Matters Blog Hop.  Our intent is to raise awareness on Autism as well as raise funds for Autism research, resources and services for those affected by autism and to advocate for the needs of those with autism.

Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication, as well as by unique strengths and differences. We now know that there is not one autism but many types, caused by different combinations of genetic and environmental influences.

The term “spectrum” reflects the wide variation in challenges and strengths possessed by each person with autism.

There is no blood test, no scan, and no image that can detect autism. Diagnosis relies on behavioral observation and screening.

The colors associated with Autism are red, yellow and blue, so I used those colors in my card for today.  I used Balloon Adventures, Better Together and Bear Hugs from Stampin’ Up! to create my card to share.

Stampin' Up! Balloon Adventures for Autism Matters by Cardiology by Jari

My bear was stamped first in Chocolate Chip ink on a panel of Crumb Cake, then die cut with the Bear Hugs Framelits Dies.  Isn’t he just the cutest?

Next, came the balloons, Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point.  I used the Balloon Bouquet Punch to cut them out.

I stamped the party hat from Better Together, and colored it in with my Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point Stampin’ Write Markers.  Then, I used my Paper Snips to carefully cut it out.

The sentiment is also from Balloon Adventures, and was stamped with Versa Mark ink, sprinkled with White Emboss Powder and heat embossed.  I used the Duet Banner Punch to cut it out.

For my inside sentiment, I used a stamp from Balloon Adventures and colored it with the ink to rubber method,  I took my Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point Stampin’ Write markers and colored in the words, huffed on it a few times, then stamped onto my Whisper White panel.

A complete list of stamping supplies as well as card stock cuts for creating this card will be at the end of my post.

Stampin’ Up! Bear Hugs Birthday

I’m using Bear Hugs from Stampin’ Up! for my birthday card for today.  This is another great stamp set that coordinates with  the Bear Hugs Framelits Dies.  Doesn’t this bear look awesome?  And no fussy cutting…..

Bear Hugs

I recently read about a boy with terminal cancer who only wants to receive birthday cards for his 13th birthday in August. Last week when my grandsons were here, two of them made birthday cards to send him and I wanted to make one, too.  So, I thought Bear Hugs would be a fun set to use.

I used the sketch over at Paper Craft Crew for my design inspiration.  Pop over there to see what it’s all about!

PCC 204

I started by stamping the bear image and derby hat from Bear Hugs in Soft Suede onto a panel of Kraft card stock and the bow tie in Tempting Turquoise onto Tempting Turquoise, then die cut them with the coordinating dies.  The bow tie is glued to the bear with liquid glue.

Bear Hugs

Next, I dry embosssed a panel of Tempting Turquoise in the Lucky Stars TIEF and then adhered a strip of the striped Festive Birthday DSP to the side of the card with liquid glue.  This panel was then popped onto my Crushed Curry card stock base with dimensionals.  I stamped the banner and sentiment from Thoughtful Banners in Crushed Curry onto Whisper White and used the Duet Banner Punch (bundle and save 10%) to cut it out.

Bear Hugs

I used the Balloon Bouquet Punch to make 3 balloons from more of the Festive Birthday DSP and tied some Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine to each balloon.  They are secured to the backs with dimensionals.  I popped on the bear and his hat with dimensionals and folded his arms up so he would not look so flat, then added the banner also with dimensionals.  The balloon strings were pulled taut and knotted, then added with a glue dot.  For a little bling, I added the Tempting Turquoise Enamel Shapes.

Bear Hugs

I chose the sentiment for the inside from Better Together.  Don’t you just love this font?  It is in Tempting Turquoise onto Whisper White that was matted with Tempting Turquoise card stock before gluing to the card base.  It is finished off with a left over strip from the Festive Birthday DSP.

I also added some of the Festive Birthday DSP to the flap of the envelope.

Bear Hugs

I started by stamping the bears from Bear Hugs onto a panel of Tip Top Taupe card stock in Soft Suede ink, then die cut them with the Bear Hugs Framelits Dies.  The heart was next, stamped in Soft Suede, onto Watermelon Wonder paper and then die cut.  Next was the sentiment from Bear Hugs stamped in Soft Suede onto a panel of Pool Party paper which I then punched with my Banner Triple Punch.

Bear Hugs

The Sweet Lil’ Things DSP (retiring) was attached to a panel of Tip Top Taupe with MP glue, then popped onto the Watermelon Wonder base with dimensionals.  I cut a strand of Linen Thread and dotted a small amount of glue from my Fine Tip Glue Pen to attach it to the bear’s paws, then popped the heart on with dimensionals.  I attached the banner with MP glue, then popped the bears on with dimensionals, too.  The inside is stamped with another stamp from the Bear Hugs set with Soft Suede ink.
